Revelation 12:1-17

If we look closely at the Book of Revelation, we can find many images and themes from other parts of the biblical story. In chapter 12 John sees “A great and wondrous sign” appear in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and a crown of 12 stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain, about to give birth to a male child who will rule all the nations.

John’s Olivet Discourse?

Mark 13:24-25, Revelation 6:12-13

This fall I’m auditing a course on the Gospel of John at a local seminary. John’s gospel is very different from Matthew, Mark, and Luke which are called the Synoptics since they have a parallel structure and content. John, on the other hand, chooses just a few episodes in the life of Jesus and goes into each in greater detail.
